Carrying Your Gun On A Motorcycle-Can It Be Done?

I know a lot of people who own a gun and ride a motorcycle. There are also riding clubs that may require you to carry a concealed weapon with you on your ride for your own personal safety and the safety of others around you. Others just want to carry their weapons on them because they feel it’s necessary. I’m not saying that if you go ride a motorcycle you have to go right out and buy a gun to carry, but it’s something that quite a few people either want to know how to do or are looking into doing.

With A Passenger

There are so many different types of motorcycles on the market, making it one of the main considerations when figuring out how to ride with a gun on you. At, you can finds all kind of information about motorcycles and helmets, because before you head out onto the open road, you should definitely invest in a safe helmet. That means using a full face helmet as they are much more safe than open face.

Pocket Holster

If you have a passenger on the back of your bike, it’s going to be hard to carry your gun in a shoulder holster, especially if they are holding on tight. You don’t want them accidentally discharging the weapon. In this case, a pocket holster would be your best option. A good one should be able to protect the trigger housing group of your gun. This is the best option for those who like to carry their gun with a round in the chamber.

Inside The Waistband

Waistband Holster

If you really don’t want people to know that you are carrying a concealed weapon on you, the inside waistband holster is a good option, but it’s not ideal for all motorcycles. Unfortunately, not al states appreciate brandishing. If your shirt rides up while you’re on the bike, consider asking one of your fellow riders if they can see your weapon. If they can, you may want to reconsider how you carry.

Solo Riding

If you are riding by yourself, you shouldn’t have to worry about what kind of holster you have for your weapon. However, there are a few things that you should take into consideration:

  • Awareness of your muzzle: Is it pointing somewhere it shouldn’t be?
  • Retention: Is the weapon securely inside the holster?
  • Concealment: Is it concealed properly?

As long as you are riding safely and you find a system that works well for you while you are on your bike, you should be okay with your weapon on you.

Locked Cases

If you want to just store your gun on your bike while you are out and about rather than carry it on your person, invest in a locked gun case. These can be attached to your bike and locked for storage of your weapon in case of emergencies. Unfortunately, the only downfall to these is that your gun won’t be accessible if you need it in a jiffy.

See, riding a motorcycle with your weapon isn’t that difficult to do. As you pass other riders on the highway, they may or may not be carrying, but you would never know unless you were really looking would you? As always, make sure you’re doing everything legally and don’t get yourself into trouble with your weapon.

Staying Alert While Using Your Gun

As we all know, one of the most important aspects of using your gun is knowing how to stay safe. Accidents could happen at any moment when you are not expecting them, so being aware of your situation is crucial. For instance, everyone should learn how to stay aware and alert while firing your gun at a range or while hunting. By not dropping your guard, it is less likely that accidents will happen. We will be talking about some of the best ways to stay alert and maintain energy while operating your firearm.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Man Sleeping

It is unfortunate that many gun related accidents happen because the user is sleep deprived and groggy from a poor night’s sleep. Don’t let this happen to you! Add an extra layer of cushion and protection to your bed by purchasing a mattress topper. Mattress toppers are great because they help with alleviating people’s joint and back pain. Simply having that extra cushioning from a topper can reduce the amount of insomnia that you experience throughout the night. In the morning, you will wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go to target practice!

Take a Nap in the Day

Napping In The Car

If you are out on a weekend hunting trip, you should not be pushing your body to the max. When you get sleepy, do not fight the urge and stay awake. Even taking a short 20 minute nap will rejuvenate your senses and get you back on the hunting trail in no time! Pushing your body is never a great idea, and while using a gun is definitely not the time to try it.

Avoid Drinking While Hunting

Drinking Beer

Even drinking a little bit can have negative repercussions on your body. A few hours after drinking, your body will start to demonstrate subtle signs of withdrawal. These effects will cause you to wake up repeatedly during the night. Overall, you will get a less restful sleep, and be groggy and inattentive in the morning. This can become dangerous very quickly.

Stay Warm

Thermal Clothing

A dangerous side effect of being too cold is that you will start to feel more sleepy than usual. If you are using a gun in a cold area, you should take precautions against the weather. Try investing in some thermal clothing, or face masks that keep every part of you warm. Being cold and alone on a hunting trip is not a good combination, and should be avoided at all costs.

Many people enjoy visiting gun ranges or hunting. It can be an enjoyable pastime if the proper precautions are in place. Staying alert and not dropping your guard is key while using a gun. Just by implementing some simple changes into your lifestyle, you will dramatically reduce the possibility of you or someone else getting injured with the gun. Getting enough sleep and staying warm are two examples of how you can stay safe and alert while operating your gun.

A Machete Can Be A Handy Tool When On Your Next Hunting Expedition

Every year there are 1,000 people in the US and Canada that are accidentally shot by hunters. Safety is an important issue when out and about on hunting trips. You can’t just grab a gun and go shoot the first animal that wanders across your path. There are other hunters in the woods, especially if you are in a shared hunting area. You should be aware of your surroundings and even how to use a gun before you set out into the wild.

Getting Into The Woods

Once you step into the woods, you may notice that you need to cut your way back to your tree stand if you have one, which isn’t all that uncommon, especially if you haven’t used it in a few years. One way you can do this is by using a machete, safely of course.

These are perfect for cutting high vegetation and branches that may be growing around your tree stand. If you don’t have one or yours is out of shape, take a look at some reviews, they may help you pick a good one.

Once you’ve gotten to your tree stand, it’s important that you follow all safety precautions when it comes to shooting. There are four common causes for hunting accidents:

  • Mechanical failures in guns
  • Not enough practice shooting
  • Not following the rules and regulations
  • Judgement mistakes

Firearm Safety

In order to ensure that your hunting partners, and yourself, stay safe, you should follow a few primary rules.

Finger Off The Trigger

Firearm Safety

No matter what, when you are carrying any type of firearm, your finger should never be inside of the trigger guard unless you are getting ready to shoot. Those who are inexperienced think that they need to have their finger on the trigger at all times, which can inevitably lead to an accident.

Safely Point The Muzzle In The Intended Direction

Never point your gun at anything you aren’t planning to shoot. An extremely vital thing that you have to teach yourself is muzzle control safety. This should come as a second nature to you even before you step foot on hunting grounds.

Treat Them All Equal

You should learn to treat every weapon as if it were loaded. An unloaded weapon should be respected in the same manner as a loaded one. Whenever you are handed a weapon, always assume it’s loaded, even when someone says otherwise.

Know What’s Beyond & In Front Of Your Target

This is another huge cause of accidental shootings in the field. People don’t take the time to look to see what’s in front or behind their target and when they shoot, they accidentally shoot someone they couldn’t see. If you can’t see what’s there, don’t shoot.

Well, there you have it! Those are some very important rules that you should follow when it comes to hunting and getting into the woods. Hunting can be a very fun experience if you know how to do it. Never fool around with weapons and don’t assume that you know everything.

Understanding Gun Safe Fire Ratings

We purchase guns for many reasons. From enjoying hunting season to protecting our families and more, there are a number of valid reason why the right to bear arms has stood the test of time. Whatever your reason for owning a firearm, the common fact that draws all gun owners together is the fact that a sizable investment is necessary for a quality gun.

Mid-range guns can run anywhere between $500 and $1,000. Just as you purchase insurance for your car, you want to make sure you’re able to protect your guns in the event of an unexpected event such as a fire. If you’re considering the purchase of a gun safe, there are a few things you should understand about fire ratings as you browse your many options.

Translating the Fire Rating

It’s all too easy to become overly-focused on the ability of a fire safe to prevent theft. However, it’s important to understand you’re investing in protection in more than one sense. Guns and Security go hand hand when used by a responsible gun owner, and you want to ensure yours is capable of offering you security when you need it most. That’s why you should pay attention to the fire rating made available and understand what it means. To help translate the rating into understandable terms, consider the following:

  • A safe with a rating of 60 minutes at 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit means that, if you had a 1,200 degree fire, the interior of your safe would remain under 350 degrees Fahrenheit for at least on hour.

Consider What You’ll be Storing in the Safe

You aren’t restricted to storing guns in your safe. In fact, there are a number of other valuable items you can keep stored safely away to protect against a number of potential dangers. However, when you do decide to include multiple items, it’s important to consider the fact that heat impacts different materials in different ways. For example, at just a little above 350 degrees, paper will begin to change to a darker color. When you kick up the heat just over 100 degrees to 451 degrees, the paper ignites.

It doesn’t take much to promote such a dramatic escalation, and it’s easy to understand how guns are better capable of withstanding such temperatures. If you do decide to include papers and/or plastics in your gun safe, ensure you check the fire rating carefully. The higher the rating, the better.

Investments Worth Protecting

It’s clear that we can make sizable investments in firearms. If you have an impressive arsenal, it’s wise to be proactive and invest in the protection of your firearms, and a gun safe can offer you the protection you need. You must consider how quickly a fire can consume your home and everything in it. The National Fire Protection Association reports that more than 365,000 fires caused seven billion dollars in damage in 2015. Your firearms likely comprise a significant investment for you, and, when you understand the fire ratings of gun safes, you can better prepare to prevent them from becoming grim statistics.

Hydration Backpacks: Your Key to Hunting for Longer

When you think about dehydration, you think of high heat or being out in a desert somewhere. Heat can increase the chances of dehydration but you can become dehydrated in any type of weather.

What is Dehydration?

Dehydration is when your body uses more water than it takes in. If you’re not hydrated you can have muscle cramps, dizziness, decrease of stamina and strength, fainting and even a more serious condition like heat stroke.

None of these conditions will play a part in an enjoyable hunting trip.

You can become dehydrated even in cooler weather conditions if you’re hiking, tracking game, or dragging game back after a successful trip. If you are wearing heavier clothing to keep you warm, it can contribute to dehydration while you’re hiking or dragging back your trophy.

Signs of Dehydration

One of the first warning signs of dehydration is thirst; if you’re feeling thirsty drink some water. The best way to stay hydrated is to drink regularly throughout the day, whether you are feeling thirsty or not.

By the time you’re already dehydrated, it’s too late.

If you’re sitting inside on the couch all day then it is alright for you to drink the 8-10 glasses of water a day that is recommended. But if you’re an active person outdoors, hiking, tracking or dragging a trophy back to camp you should be drinking about a gallon or more a day. You can lose 4 cups of water per hour when exercising in warmer conditions.

Staying Hydrated

camelbakPlain water is the best option for staying hydrated. Beer, soda, tea or coffee will not keep you hydrated because they are diuretics and they make you eliminate more water than you take in.

Hydration Packs (also known as Camel packs) are an excellent way to help you stay hydrated during physical activity. Hydration packs are convenient because you do not have to stop and find a water bottle. If you can get the sip tube in the correct place, hydration is a quick and easy task and because it is easier to get your water intake you tend to drink more often.

There are several different hydration packs to choose from depending on the specific activities you plan on using it for. To choose a hydration pack for hunting you should choose a pack that is made around a pre-installed reservoir which is custom fitted for the pack, making it easier to access, fill up and clean. This will also make it easy to fill your pack with fresh filtered water in preparation for a trip; we recommend using a great water filter pitcher with a narrow pouring spout.

CamelBak brand reservoirs that are 1 litre or larger have a 3.5 inch opening that makes it easy to put ice cubes in to keep your water extra cold. It also makes it easier to clean the interior of the reservoir. CamelBak recommends that you drink 1 liter of water for every hour of strenuous activity but there are several things that can impact a person’s hydration.

Be Smart

Be aware of your body signals when you are participating in activities outdoors, especially if the intensity, temperatures, or elevation is higher than normal for you. You should always drink fluids on a regular basis, even before your body tells you that you are thirsty. Using a hydration pack will give you an advantage since it is easily accessible, you will drink more often and your performance will be better as a result.

During Cold weather – Fill the reservoir up with warmer water to keep it from freezing. Blow into your sip tube after you have taken a sip of water. If you push the water back into the reservoir it will not hang around in the tube and freeze.

During Hot weather- You can freeze a reservoir and its contents. Just make sure you leave enough space in the reservoir for the water to expand as it freezes.

Allowing Guns Inside The Campus Premises

School is where you leave your child to learn, play, and stay almost the whole day every day, as a parent, all you ever wanted is your child’s safety and security of course because it is a place where your child would learn on how to become an independent and productive kind of citizen. The question is how sure and confident you are of leaving your child in school? Many reported cases of mass shooting happened inside the premises of several universities where a gunman freely enters in the premises or the student itself was the ones initiated, giving again a half decision of letting the students carry fire arms inside the campus.

kocka slika pistolj5There was a debate which was conducted in the campus of Virginia’s Techs where parties are divided unto those who believe the benefits of allowing guns and the danger of it. Since many shooting tragedies had happened, some still are positive about letting fire arms be carried inside the campus. This is such a tough discussion and sensitive kind of issue that needs a serious dealing because this involves the safety and the lives of all the campus body that includes all the students and the faculty members. The positive approach towards the pro guns party has the principle that if only students and professors were just allowed to carry guns with them, the shooting and the bloodshed would be possibly less for they will be able to fire the gunman right away just before the victim increases for they are hopeless enough to stop the oppressor. The students insist that they could protect themselves and feel just a little bit safer when they own and carry guns with them right inside of their own school.

This is one of the campaigns’ purposes, top protection of almost all citizens, most especially the youth whom are giving lesser rights of legalization such as in service of alcohol and carrying fire arms. Yes, they are young and vulnerable, yet have the right of living and dwelling in a safe kind of community most especially in school where they are staying to learn almost half of their lives. Giving them the right to protect themselves all the time is something that both parents and their children would benefit in such a responsible way.

kocka slika pistolj9Parents and the government should work hand on hand if this kind of rights would be implemented someday, for the youth is so aggressive and may be hard to control; yet, if enough laws and policies will take charge, the idea of the approval to allow the students and the teaching body to carry fire arms would be solely for the sake of protection and no any other malicious threats. This will also threaten those who are with bad motives to attack the campus having the fear of being shot, parents would also develop a sense of responsibility same with the students for they are carrying a very sensitive device, also will develop confidence for everybody for always being safe and secured in and out of the school premises.
